UK workshop information

Brand new for October 2022 is the Raptors of the forest workshop. It will start at 1pm at Barleylands Farm, Barleylands Road, Billericay CM11 2UD.
We will be using captive owls and raptors to fly towards us on a predetermined flight path for the best opportunities to get great shots in the fantastic surroundings of a private wood in Autumn. There will be some perched shots as well as flight shots to test your skills! We will try to hide the jesses as much as possible for the perched shots. This is a great way to hone your skills and camera craft for when you want to go into the field and try to capture wild raptors on your own.

Maximum of 4 people. This is strictly limited and social distancing rules apply

Camera equipment needed: (fast lenses as possible or good ISO camera performance is an advantage in the woods) 70-200mm f2.8 or 100-400mm lenses are recommended, with plenty of memory cards and a tripod if you feel you need one. Approx 2 hours of photography. If you have any questions or special requirements please contact us and we will try to accommodate you. These workshops may be cancelled and re-organised at short notice due to the British weather. Sorry for any inconvenience, but we want to make sure you get some great images to take away.

Some of the photographers who have attended these workshops have come away with images beyond their expectations. And recently one photographer’s image has been published in a well-known photo magazine!

***NOT AVAILABLE DUE TO COVID 19*** Here is our new Barn owl photographic studio workshop. Unlike any other we have done, this is purely a Barn owl portfolio workshop. The owl will be free of any Jesses and anklets and will be allowed to roam about in the studio. (Please note: this is a safe environment for the bird and photographer). Your session will start with a cup of tea or coffee and a brief overview of what is going to happen in your session that day. After you get acquainted with the studio and lighting equipment being used, we will start by making sure all the camera settings and focus techniques are fully explained. Then we will use a 'test' Barn owl (one with Jesses) for some practice to make sure all is well. After that, we will move on to the Barn owl that has no jesses and anklets for the main shoot. Different sets are available during the session as are different lighting styles. Back-lit, side-lit, spot-lit all give different moods and looks to your images. This is a very limited workshop and we are not running very many in 2022. The sessions are approx 2.5 hours long and will be a morning or an afternoon time. 10am-12.30 or 1.30-4.00pm at weekends. The cost of this amazing experience is only £199 per photographer per session. This includes a pure one-2-one with us and the owls, all top-end lighting equipment and modifiers, props, the use of the studio, and some light refreshments during your time with us. You can email us at: wildlifephoto@robinlowry.co.uk for more information, to book a place, or buy a gift voucher for this great photographic experience for an unforgettable time.
